The Nicolas Cage action-thriller Bangkok Dangerous, a remake of the 1999 Thai film, needed just $7.8 million to take the top spot at the box office in what was the slowest movie weekend in five years.

Coming in second was Tropic Thunder, the war spoof starring Ben Stiller, Jack Black, Robert Downey Jr, and our most fuckable extra-terrestrial winner Tom Cruise. It earned $7.5 million in its fourth week of release, settling in at No. 2 after three weeks in the top spot. Its cumulative total reached $96.8 million.

In third place was Sony/Columbia’s cute comedy The House Bunny with $5.9 million, finishing with $37 million after three weeks.

Rounding out the top five films was The Dark Knight in fourth place with $5.7 million, and the espionage drama Traitor, with $4.7 million.

Vin Diesel’s sci-fi flop  Babylon A.D. dropped from second place last weekend to sixth with just $4 million. Death Race, an action/adventure flick from Universal, grossed $3.6 million for seventh and the disastrous Disaster Movie came in at eight place with $3.3 million.
