Okay, seriously, WTF! I’ve heard that some gay men were all for Proposition 8, but I’ll never understand that. How can someone actually WANT to be considered inferior to someone else? Serious issues there.
Well now, Sir Elton John has come forward saying he’s also for Prop 8, which bans gay marriages. He believes gay couples should stick to civil unions rather than getting married.
Elton and his longtime partner David Furnish celebrated a civil union ceremony back in 2005. At the Elton John AIDS Foundation in NYC on Monday night, he said, “We’re not married. Let’s get that right. We have a civil partnership. I don’t want to be married. I’m very happy with a civil partnership. If gay people want to get married, or get together, they should have a civil partnership. The word marriage, I think, puts a lot of people off. You get the same equal rights that we do when we have a civil partnership. Heterosexual people get married. We can have civil partnerships.”
That’s crap! The point is to be treated equally as citizens of this country. Sir John, you just lost a fan.
Here’s a big FUCK YOU!

If Elton doesn’t want to get married, then let him not get married! Pero, how about Ellen??? If she wants to, she should be allowed to get married.
Why should it be called something else? At one point in history black people weren’t allowed to get married. Should we make black civil unions and not call them marriage?
The term “marriage” has been evolving, and it needs some more evolving!
All these religious fundamentalists believe a marriage is between a man and a woman. Let’s not forget that MAN created religion.
Anyways, this topic is getting too heavy for me, pero I will definitely touch these issues during the next episode of Gaywalking in San Francisco.

My opinion is, “so what if he believes in Prop 8?” He has the same right to express is beliefs and opinions just like the idiots who say “fuck you Elton”. Besides, he is too busy touring and raising money for the Elton John Aids foundation to give a shit what you people have to say about him. In other words, the man is too busy living his life, and I suggest you idiots do the same.
Pretty decent site and informative posts, I’ll be bookmarking this one and checking back on St. Paddy’s. Regards.
I just don’t understand why it’s such a need to redefine marriage. Marriage was a religious definition by most christian believers. So why is it such a battle for those who don’t even practice such beliefs. There is already constitutional law protecting equal rights of gays, why the hang up on the wording. Civil unions already exist. Don’t understand the need to be so angry and hateful to those who don’t agree with you.
Hell yeah! Elton John just got bigger in my iPOD! YES ON PROP 8! Sorry gays! Maybe next time!
He has a right to be against Prop 8 just like everyone else, but it is somewhat disappointing. The truth is that civil unions DO NOT grant equal rights to homosexual couples as marriage does to heterosexual couples; that is why people push so strongly for gay marriage — for equal rights and privileges. It doesn’t have to be in a church, but to go to the courthouse and be married grants more privileges than civil unions.
I have no propblems with gay people and what they do in your rooms. But when you get married it takes away from my rights. My sister and her husband have been trying to adopt for three years. They are having a hard time because the agency has a high number of request from homosexual couples as well. Gays who chose to be with eachother should not expect to have kids. Its a decision you make. My sister and her husband were meant to have kids and they couldnt because of a car accident. You never had the right. This is the only thing that makes me vote yes to prop 8. You should not be parents. If you want to be get a surrogate you should have to pay extra. You went against nature. You should pay.
