California’s Proposition 8 exit polls show that 52% of voters favored Prop 8, while 48% opposed it.  California’s numbers are still not 100% concrete. We are remaining hopeful. In Florida, 62% opposed same-sex marriage. In Arizona 56% opposed same-sex marriage. And in Arkansas, 57% opposed same-sex partners to adopt children.

Religion, political affiliation and age came into play. Democrats were for gay marriage, while Republicans opposed it. Majority of Whites opposed same-sex marriage. Majority of Blacks supported it and Latinos were divided. Those who attend church were against marriage, while those who rarely or never go to church, were for gay marriage. In fact Mormon churches in Utah donated millions to California’s Vote Yes on Prop 8 Campaign. Voters older than 65 voted mostly for the proposition, while those in the 18-29 range voted against it.

In 2000, 61% of California voters approved Proposition 22, a statute that limited marriage to one man and one woman. In 2008 the number dropped to 52%. This is going to be a steep climb but the gay community will get there. Yes we can!

So what happens to those couples who recently got married? Is Ellen Degeneres’ Wedding no longer Valid? This is completely discriminatory!

Here is what the Gay Community of Los Angeles hoped for during Gay Pride in June, 2008:

  1. There’s still hope. We can do it!

  2. I have so many gay friends, and a couple of them got married in Canada last weekend.

Some Americans definitely live en el tiempo de la carreta….que no mamen!

  3. This might end up being a good thing.

The intiatives could be appealed to the US Supreme Court as unconstitutional, at which point they could be dispensed with entirely.

  5. please. why are u trying to turn something sacred into a racial issue? it passed. go cry in a ditch. obviously more people are trying to protect the future of this country.

  6. Racial? Khoo da KHELL are you?

  7. To Jane: What gives you the right to say what is sacred or not. I was married for 13 years and my husband was a total jerk! He hit me , and cheated on me. Now I’m with another waoman and have been for ten years, we have a beautiful partnership and I would marry her in a minute. I also am saved threw Christ . I thibk it is horrible that it passed and is the new racial issue, you people have to have something.

  8. I’m hispanic married to a white woman. To think that some time ago, because of the law, I wouldn’t been able to marry her. What is the government to say who can and cannot love each other.

Ok let’s look at your logic… you made a bad choice in your heterosexual marriage, therefore your second choice for a gay relationship is right.

Please take a class in logic and come back and tell us something that really makes sense.

I’m not even going to comment on the “saved in christ” aspect…other than to say, irrelevant as to right and wrong.
