The 12th Annual Latin Grammy Awards ceremony was held on November 10, 2011 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas. Aired on Univision, the show was hosted by Mexican singer/actress Lucero and Chilean American actor Cristián De La Fuente.

Calle 13 won “Album of the Year” earning the top prize after a record-breaking night that saw the Puerto Rican hip-hop duo receive 19 awards overall.

The duo opened the show performing “Latinoamérica” and were accompanied by the Orquesta Sinfonica Simon Bolivar, a youth orchestra from Venezuela conducted by Gustavo Dudamel.

Seven-time Latin Grammy winner, and two-time Grammy winner Shakira, was honored with the 2011 Latin Recording Academy Person of the Year award last night, and sang “Antes de las Seis,” “Devocion,” and “Loca.”

The Colombian-Lebanese singer called the top honor “one of the most important moments in my life and the most important recognition I’ve received.”

She also thanked her parents and brother, Tony, who were all at her side on her biggest night.

Highlights of the night included collaborative performances from Los Tigres del Norte & Paulina Rubio, Mana & Prince Royce, Wisin y Yandel & Sean Kingston, Romeo & Usher, Sie7e & Taboo, Pablo Alboran & Demi Lovato, Pepe Aguilar & Reyli, Pitbull & Marc Anthony & more!

Presenters of the night included everyone from Sofia Vergara to Zoe Saldana, Natalia Jimenez, Erik Estrada, Adrienne Bailon, Tito El Bambino, and Kermit the Frog.

  1. It was a snoozefest. Even Shaki dissapointed me. Wish you went up there and sang Loca Lohan.
